Welcome to music class! Calais Elementary School offers a full spectrum of music classes and activities. General music classes for grades K-6 meet twice a week, and are based on the Orff approach. Fifth and sixth grade students have the option of taking chorus and/or instrumental music. Instruction on string instruments is offered starting in third grade. Pre-school has a short music class each week.
Instrumental instruction on band instruments is offered starting in 5th grade. Wind and percussion instrument students get ensemble experience in the Calais band. String players get ensemble experience in our orchestra
Our Chorus program is open to 5th and 6th grades, and provides an extension of voice and movement instruction begun in general music.
